Rectory Park News
A classic watering hole in Dursley
If you're looking for a local public house with character, colour and infinite variety, then look no further than The Old Spot Inn. Approximately 5 miles from Rectory Park (go back across the roundabout when you entered Slimbridge, pass through Cam and follow the signs). The "Spot", described appropriately by the landlord Steve Herbert as "A Pub of a Thousand Locals", is set on the Cotswold Way as it passes through the town of Dursley and is a popular watering hole for walkers.
The Old Spot is friendly, deeply traditional and one of the must-visits of the county. This 100 year old free house, named after the Gloucestershire Old Spot pig, has been sympathetically restored and full details can be seen at www.oldspotinn.co.uk
Culinary Delights at Rectory Park
While Rectory Park offers a full 'batterie de cuisine' for your stay, there is always the temptation to let someone else do the cooking and you concentrate on the entertaining. With this in mind we have a number of specialist companies who can provide mouth-watering meals for any occasion. Outlined below are two companies who have provided a range of services at the house in the past.
Benson's of Broadway is another specialist caterer happy to supply meals to your door. Whether you need a full waiter service in the formal dining room or just sumptuous meals delivered for you to cook and serve yourself James can offer an extensive menu selection.

Brush off the cobwebs
Just down the road, before you reach the Slimbridge Wetlands Trust, you will come across the Gloucester and Sharpness canal. At the crossing point (via a single-track swing bridge) there are tow-path walks in either direction, boat and cycle hire facilities and a cosy pub if you feel the urge for a pint.
